The Captain

Preston Claytor grew up boating on the Chesapeake Bay sailing with his father from age 12. Along the way he has owned and cruised a Vagabond 42 (cutter/ketch sail), a Nordhavn 47, a Nordic Tug, and now the Fleming 55, 45 North. For 20 years Claytor has been a USCG licensed captain holding a 100 ton certification. When not cruising, Captain Claytor lives with his wife Nina and English Springer Spaniel, Leland Louise in the Village of Golf, Florida or Leland, Michigan in the summers.

Water and boats has been a constant part of Jay’s timeline. Pushing his 8′ rowing pram off the beach of Houghton Lake to running a GunBoat 48 up and down the East Coast has enhanced that timeline.
